Won’t You Celebrate With Me

I found this picture on The Ugly Earring amd loved the title in combination with the image. Won't you celebrate with me is a poem by Lucille Clifton about discrimination and celebrating life. The power of that poem is greatly reflected in this image. Guarding herself while celebrating the survival thoughout her life. Well done Ugly Earring.

Creepy gif's from Contributing Editor

Looking at this sometimes androgynous dressed model while he's moving on my screen is giving me chills down my spine. I can't even think of something else to say about these pictures, but I find them very intriguing.  The shoot is called FUTUR3 P3RF3CT.

The flying birds

I usually don't like pictures like these, I think there a nice experiment but not the most creative. I decided to post them anyway because I have to admit there well done. Just makes me think what kind of creative concepts you can make with this kind of photography. I do have to say Sølve Sundsbø already did this a few years ago.

Christopher Wilson

Just wanted to post work of Christopher Wilson. I like his work but also his background. After working for 15 years as a writer, art director and designer (including Audi) he decided to take the leap to start the company Christopher WILSON Photography.

Art with safety pins

A little voice in my head is telling me I've seen something like this before, but it still is good. Love that it's played backwards, it gives the image an even more alienating vibe. You have to look twice before you figure out how it's made and makes you question if what you see is real.

Hidden Spectrum

I found this image on Alice in Wonderland and began wondering about this Hidden Spectrum (GREAT name by the way). Turns out Hidden Spectrum is an art & women's clothing line and atelier. I recommend everyone to take a look because she is really good at her craft. This picture is stunning to me because she made such a still image with moving clothes. The jacket looks frozen like it has never been in another position but this one.

Tangled Alphabets by Leon Ferrari and Mira Schendel

I always admire art where something is created that's not really there. These drawings suggest movement, even though it's just a collection letters placed in a certain way.
The letters are placed in a shape that in my opinion portraits nature and it's phenomena and I think that's what makes this so stunning.

Buffy Sainte-Marie

This photo of Buffy Sainte-Marie is so atmospheric. I wonder where she is standing and the combination of black and white with the scenery makes the picture very authentic. The way the photographer captured the flying eagle in combination with the landscape makes it seem like Buffy is looking out of a moving train. Perfect composition by the way.

AMAZING photography by Elizaveta Porodina

I was just completely stunned by these photos of Elizaveta Porodina. Can't post to much of her images because I never get enough of her. The way she combines contrast with movement, colour and glamour just strikes me and make me feel somewhat ashamed for my own work. I hope I will get as good as her (or even better!) one day.

Vogue Hommes International

I love atmospheric pictures and this definetly belongs to that catagory. The images are not very special but it reflects the lifestyle they want to depict very well (and I would love to pound in the mud with Jamie Dornan some day).

Intense photography

I recently found photographer Paul Maffi on Trendland. I like the black and white contrast he often uses in his photos and his way of photographing movement reminds me of my own work.

Cher

Although I'm not realy a Cher fan, I always have a soft spot for good analog photography. The composition is great, as well as the capturing of her moving hair. I also love that you can see the studio features behind her and eventhough Cher is portrayed like she's a regular woman, she manages to keep her glamour. Even in a basic outfit.

The Ugly Earring

The concept of this gif is very simple, but it definetly works. I found this on the ugly earring blog without a source. I wonder where this was used for.

What to think..

When searching new photography I found photographer Liang Su. She made this shoot for the WestEast Magazine. The shoot is titled Identity and although I like the concept, I think it's taking over the photo's. It's nicely made but there's something bugging me, maybe the images are to busy and chaotic for my liking.

Movie-like photography

Will Davidson captures the movement of Noot Seear perfectly in the streets. These photo's could easily be snapshots from a movie.

DEJA VU - NEON O'CLOCK WORKS 2010

I'm so glad I found this beautiful video. It gives me a burst of new inspiration for the video I want to make this year. The thing that strikes me about this video is that it speaks to you without using any words. And although it's not the shortest video it keeps me interested the whole time.

Lifestyle by Jacob Ring

I would recommend everyone to take a look at the photographs of Jacob Ring. I find it so special how he combines pictures that are so diffirent from eachother. Every photo has a special detail that makes the ordinary moments in life so much more appealing and memorable.

Unpleasant photographs from Andy Denzler

These pictures remind me of films like The Grudge or The Ring. Films I hate to watch but always keep me a little curious. The photographs have a lonely and scary feeling to them and make me think of
security camera's playing a short peace of film in repeat.

Mindblowing photographs by Martin Stranka

These photographs are probably the most beautiful ones I've seen in months. They give me a lonely feeling, but in a breathtaking way. They make me feel involved with the person in the pictures, but don't make me feel sorry for him. And in my opinion that's the power of these images.

Gareth Pugh - S/S 2011 Film

I've been hoping for a while that creative king Gareth Pugh would make a film for his new line, and luckily he did! Just like the previous one, also on this blog, the film contains a massive amount of beautiful shots and graphical editing. Also in this clip: lovely high speed shots that I'll remember for a long time.

Massive Attack by Nick Knight

I've had an obsession with high speed footage for some time now, and while looking for videos on this subject I found a spectacular clip by Nick Knight. The music blends in perfectly with the images and the overall look of the clip is just amazing, it doesn't require much explanation.

Wendy Bevan

I found these photo's on coquette and fell in love. The atmosphere is so dominant and makes the little things in life special.

Dreaming in slow motion

Today I was once again feeding my obsession for high speed footage. When I was googling for a video clip I saw years ago, I came across this fantastic website. The website focusses on high speed footage that the people behind it mostly shot themselves and posts information about its technical details. This comes in handy for me because I was desperately looking for infomation about this type of film. None of the clips are creative though. They are usually about simple things like cats, people, water splashing on something, or a fire being lit. It's amazing how simple things like these can become extraordinary by showing them in slow motion. It puts me in such a creative mood and makes me dream about the creative possibilities this technique provides.

All the above shots are from clips of http://www.lucidmovement.com/

Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

Old one, but still very good video. I admire the technique they used and I would like to try it out someday.

Wildfox Jeans Spring 2011

Can't tell exactly why, but there is something about these photo's that just make me love them. They share a lot of feeling with the viewer. It makes me think of a wild night with friends or me being in a crazy mood at home. The things that you only share with yourself or the closest of your friends.

For the animal lovers out there

When I was browsing trough photography websites to find new interesting photographs, I came across these beautiful pictures by photographer Nectario Karolos Papazacharias. Although the doves are flying away, the pictures feel so peaceful. The model and animals are in harmony with eachother and it feels very natural. In my head I picture a short clip with her standig almost completely still and the doves flying away without much sound.

Inception Teaser

I went to see this film with my boyfriend, and while this film isn't the shortest (148 min with no pause), we watched it with our eyes wide open the whole time. This film is very, very complicated, but amazing when you figure it out. The action genre is not my favorite, but this film is absolutely an exception. But not only the well thought-out storyline blew me away, also the special effects with a lot of slow motion work still make me want to see this film again.

SHOWstudio: Gareth Pugh Autumn/Winter 2009 by Ruth Hogben

I saw this amazing video a long time ago at the MoMu in Antwerpen. It blew me away and I still watch it regularly.
